I'm a life long giant robot enthusiasts I grew up watching Transformers, Go-bots and we will throw M.A.S.K in there as well. I used to love watching Tranzor Z and Voltron back to back on TV as a kid. They are vastly different than Go-bots and Transformers who are self aware autonomous conscious robots. Voltron and TransZor Z are not actually full blown robots yes they're robotic in many ways. They are M.E.C.H suits controlled by humans. They are very similar to Gundum Wing mobile suits. I would say they're just a few levels up from a iron man suit. So M.A.S.K, Gundam Wing, Voltron and TransZor Z are Mech tech and Transformers, Go bots are actual robots.
There are 3 different incarnations of Voltron. Voltron-1 is the vehicle version, Voltron-2 is the 5 Lion version and there's a lesser known version of robot android type components that merge together to form Voltron-3. For the propose of clarity when I talk about Voltron in this post I am referring to Voltron-2 the 5 lion version. TransZor Z started out in Japanese anime manga and had a hit toy action figure line and cartoon. He originally went by the name Shin Manzinger Zero. They changed his name to TransZor Z for the western audience. TranZor Z action figures are not as available as Voltron's and can be quiet pricey however they are highly collectable. Voltron coming to American has a similar origin as TranZor Z. Voltron started in Japan under the original name of "Beast King Go Lion". Surprisingly, Voltron was discovered by Ted Koppel the famed News TV personality. He was on a assignment in Japan and saw a cartoon or commercial of "Beast King Go Lion" he liked what he saw and when he got back to the states he worked a deal to get Beast King Go Lion to the United States where the name was changed to Voltron.
Stating the question again who wins between Voltron and TranZor Z; comparing the two Voltron kicks Tranzor Z's ass in every category other than a one on one fight. In terms of sales and generating money its not even close Voltron by far leads TransZor Z. Voltron looks far cooler than TranZor Z as a general consensus. Voltron sells more comic books and Manga books. Voltron is more widely known than TranZor Z. Voltron has a wider selection of action figures and has had a more successful screen presence than TranZor Z.
All of that said TranZor Z would win quite easily in a battle contest. I am huge Voltron fan and I am not downplaying Voltron in anyway. I think Voltron is totally bad ass. Voltron's main problem is his fighting style. History shows Voltron takes way too much punishment before he forms his iconic blazing sword and cuts enemies in half. TransZor Z's offense is too deadly for Voltron to withstand. I mean could Voltron withstand TransZor Z's hurricane fire that turns his opponent to rust and disintegrate them into dust? Could Voltron combat TranZor Z's chest blades radiation from completely melting him? TranZor Z has an assortment of missiles and other offensive weaponry. TranZor Z even has his own giant sword to combat Votron's blazing sword.
Another problem Voltron would have is there are Too many cooks in the kitchen. There are 5 people calling the shots to control Voltron. Compared to TransZor Z who has one humanoid operator everything is much more streamline. In a fight you must think fast you don't have time to take a vote on your next move. Those are some of the reasons I think TransZor Z would defeat Voltron in a one one battle. I would like to hear what you think "who would win in a fight between Voltron vs TranZor Z?"
